Good Behavior is a set of three novellas about Letty Dobesh, a thirty something pickpocket and con woman who is good at her craft. She has just one problem, she is a little too fond of drugs and alcohol. She lost custody of her young son due to drug use and her goal is to get clean and see him again. Drugs have a strong hold on her, but she’s found the thrill of a score is enough to take her mind off using. Each stories tells about a different job.
These stories were a little dark for me, but are very well written. I found myself sucked into Letty’s drama, her heists, and the many twists and surprises that keeps the story moving and the listener engaged. I thought that the characterization of Letty was well done. We came to understand her struggles and motivations. The reader, Julia Whelan, did an excellent job. If you’ve listened to a few audiobooks you know the difference a good reader makes. The stories were used as the basis for a popular TNT series. Recommended.
